IIAM SINCE 2012
A Dermatological Foundation for Contemporary Aesthetic Medicine
Established in Pune in 2012 by dermatologist and medical educator Dr. L.K. Desai, IIAM commenced structured education in aesthetic medicine during an early phase in the formalisation of the discipline in India.
Its academic orientation has remained rooted in dermatology. Assessment, indication, anatomy, skin and tissue response, treatment limitations, safety and follow-up provide the clinical framework within which procedures are taught.
As the discipline has advanced, IIAM’s curriculum has evolved in scope while retaining the clinical principles that have guided the institute from the outset.

Dr. Desai established IIAM in 2012 and continues to direct the Fellowship’s academic structure, teaching priorities and clinical standards. THE FLAGSHIP FELLOWSHIP
Depth Through Longitudinal Learning
The Fellowship is designed for dermatologists seeking to place procedural knowledge within a broader clinical framework.
Across four to six months, academic teaching, case-based discussion, clinical observation, procedural learning and outcome review are integrated within a connected programme. This continuity allows each intervention to be understood within the clinical continuum—from assessment and indication to treatment planning, execution, response evaluation and follow-up
Academic Scope
Across all four domains, the Fellowship addresses patient selection, treatment sequencing, safety, complication awareness, documentation and follow-up.
A Coherent Framework for Aesthetic Practice

Assessment and Planning - A systematic approach to consultation, patient selection, indication, expectation assessment and treatment sequencing.

Treatment Strategy and Procedural Judgement - A considered approach to selecting and sequencing procedures and devices within a wider treatment plan, with due regard to their capabilities and limitations.

Safety, Review and Referral - Complication awareness, documentation, clinical review, follow-up and appropriate referral thresholds as integral elements of practice.

The Fellowship in Practice
The Fellowship in Practice at IIAM bridges theoretical knowledge with real-world clinical application through faculty-led teaching, case discussions, and a structured approach to aesthetic principles, patient assessment, treatment planning, and clinical decision-making.
Clinical observation and procedural demonstrations allow participants to understand techniques, protocols, and best practices in a professional setting. With limited intake, the programme provides personalised faculty interaction, guided review, and mentorship to build practical awareness, clinical reasoning, and confidence in aesthetic practice.
Clinical Reasoning Sessions
Patient assessment, indication and treatment planning examined with faculty.

Technique, treatment endpoints, safety and procedural reasoning considered in context.
Case Review and Follow-Up
